馬を制御するのに使用する馬具、ホースビットのリングです。
ホースビットの中央にはメビウスパターンを浮き彫りにて彫り込んでいます。

(縦幅12mm×横幅mm)
(制作可能号数 #5~#25)


2023年の新作テーマは【Horse】です。

馬は200万年以上前に北米で誕生されたとされています。
当時のベーリング陸橋を渡ってユーラシア大陸へと広がりましたが新大陸の馬は紀元前１万年頃までに姿を消しました。
（食用に狩り尽くしたという説が濃厚）
その後、欧州からの侵略者が再び新大陸に馬を持ち込み、先住民族（ネイティヴアメリカン）と白人による品種改良が現在の馬種を生み出していったと言われています。

次第に馬は先住民（ネイティヴアメリカン）の生活に大きな変化をもたらすと同時に欠かせない存在になっていきました。
馬に乗る部族が優勢になり、馬は富の象徴として大切にされました。
そして時が経ち、部族の伝統と誇りの証として、幸運のモチーフとして彼らが制作するインディアンジュエリー、そして名前にも頻繁に登場するようにもなったのです。

今回W A K A Nではネイティブアメリカン達が大切にしてきた馬を想いを馳せ、試行錯誤しながら具現化していきました。

W A K A N S Sは本来は地金(金銀の板)から制作を得意としていますが、地金からの制作はホースフェイスやホースビットなど立体的な表現には向いていません。
そこでWAXという蝋燭のロウの様な物を金属の棒で削り、立体的に造形していく技法を取り入れました。

今回初めて本格的にW A Xという技法に挑戦し、地金からの技法と組み合わせて制作しています。
